Wilkes Men's Swimming Sweeps Tri-Meet with Lycoming and Juniata
 
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's swimming team swept their first tri-meet of 2025, defeating Lycoming College (115-41) and Juniata College (118-65) on Saturday afternoon at the Lamade Gymnasium Natatorium.

The Colonels won seven events on the day, opening with the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), Caleb Keener (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock), Alton Smargiassi (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) and Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) finished in 1:48.90.

Piotrowski won two individual races, claiming the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.85 and the 200-yard IM in 2:15.41. Smargiassi finished second in both of those races.

Miller also earned the top spot in two races, the 200-yard free (1:53.48) and the 100-yard free (53.33). Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) put two Colonels on the podium in the latter of the two events with a second-place finish. Lewis also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.14.

The last individual winner of the day was Keener, who took home the 1,650-yard free in 19:11.85.

Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) also finished on the podium with second place finishes in the 50-yard free (24.27) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.70). Donato rounded out the podium finishers with a third place finish in the 50-yard free with a time of 24.47.

Wilkes closed the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Miller, Lewis, Donato and Dainty finished in 1:35.02.

Wilkes has one more dual match before the Landmark Conference Championships, as they travel to face Moravian on Friday, January 24 at 6:00 p.m.
