Wilkes Men's Basketball Defeats Muhlenberg 75-69 on the Road

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Wilkes men's basketball team opened 2025 with a win over Muhlenberg Saturday with a final score of 75-69.

In the first half, the Colonels shot 14-28 from the field, 1-7 on three point attempts and 4-7 from the free throw line. In the second half, they shot 14-26 from the field, 7-10 on three point shots and 7-13 from the free throw line. Wilkes scored 30 points in the paint, 13 off turnovers, 15 bench points and recorded seven second chance points to secure the victory over the Mules. The Colonels had their largest lead of the game in the seventh minute of the first half with a 14 point lead. The Mules held their largest lead of the game in the 20th minute of the second half, with just a one point lead. 

Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) recorded the team high in points for this game with 21, followed by Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) with 17 and Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) with 13. Rounding out the double digit points was Daniel Santaniello (Roaring Brook Twp., PA/Scranton Prep) with 10. Argento led in assists with seven while Merrifield and Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) each recorded six. Merrifield led in assists with five, followed by Argento with four and Lesko and Eli Becker (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) each had two. Argento recorded two steals and Lesko, Becker, and Colin Ackerman (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) each had one.  

The Colonels will be at home for their next game on Wednesday, January 8 against Goucher college. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
