WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes University women's volleyball team fell to the Moravian University Greyhounds in a 3-0 sweep Tuesday night at the Marts Center.

The loss drops the Colonels to 11-13 on the season and 1-4 in the Landmark, while the Greyhounds improve to 11-8 and 3-2 in the Landmark.

Moravian jumped out to a 15-6 lead early in set one and never looked back. Wilkes did manage to make it a five-point game (20-15) by taking advantage of some Moravian errors, but the Greyhounds still took a 1-0 lead after a 25-16 set one victory. Set two was more of the same as Moravian turned an early 5-2 lead into a 17-4 lead thanks to a 12-2 run. The Colonels never got closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Greyhounds won the set 25-16.

With their eyes set on a sweep, the Greyhounds took a 7-1 lead to start the third set. They led by as much as nine on three separate occasions throughout, and ended the match with a 25-17 set win to complete the sweep.

Mia Leon (Ponce, PR/Caribbean) led the Colonels in both kills and digs as she ended the match with eight kills and 13 digs. Both Rachael Anderson (Canmore, AB/West Island College) and Maddy Durfee (Buffalo, NY/Attica) finished with double-digits assists with Anderson having 12 and Durfee having 10. The team as a whole finished with a .111 attack percentage compared to .271 for Moravian, lost the kill battle 36-28, and committed 17 errors.

The Colonels look to bounce back on Saturday, Oct. 18 as they host both Rutgers-Camden and Hood College in a tri-match at the Marts Center. The matches begin at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
