Wilkes Men's Soccer Ends Regular Season With Loss to Lycoming
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Wilkes University men's soccer team finished their 2025 season with a road loss to the Lycoming College Warriors 6-0 on Tuesday night.
The Colonels finish the regular season with a final record of 1-13-4 and 0-7-2 in Landmark Conference play, while the Warriors finish with a 6-6-5 overall record and 3-3-3 in conference play.
Looking to clinch a spot in the conference postseason tournament, the Warriors came out hungry early in the game. In the fourth minute, Kevin Kouassi set up Leandro Cruz's third goal of the season to get Lycoming on the board 1-0.
Wilkes managed to settle things down for a while as that score held all the way to the 39:30 mark, when Thomas Geyer found the back of the net for his first goal of the season to make it 2-0 Lycoming going into halftime.Â
It took just over a minute into the second half for the Warriors to score their third goal. This time it was Owen Magee with a quick shot that beat Matthew Conti (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial High School) in goal to put the Colonels in a big hole they couldn't climb out of. Lycoming scored three more goals after this in the 66th, 84th, and 85th minute to give them the commanding victory and keep their season alive for another game.
The Colonels were outshot 19-6 by the Warriors, including 13-4 in shots on goal. The Warriors also earned eight corner kicks compared to just three for the Colonels. No Wilkes player took more than one shot, and the players with a shot on goal were Josey Williamson (Oley Valley, PA/Oley Valley), Lorenzo Lici (Pavullo Nel Frignano, Italy/Camp Hill), Nick Romas (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley), and Garrett Luijpers (Manhattan, NY/Beacon).Â
Conti played the majority of the game in goal for the Colonels. The junior made six saves while allowing four goals in just under 74 minutes of action, before Landon Keller (Provo, UT/Timpview) came in for the final 16 minutes and allowed two goals and made one save.
