The Wilkes University men's swimming team competed alongside four other teams in the first day of the Electric City Invitational Friday evening at Marywood University.

The Colonels are currently in first place with 185 team points after one day of competition. SUNY Oneonta is in second place with 136 points, and right behind them is King's College with 133 points. Lycoming is in fourth place with 88 points, and Marywood finds themselves in fifth place with 48 points.
The invitational began with the 200 yard medley relay and the Colonels fielded two teams for the event. The team of Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton), Tobias Misinay (Somerset, KY/Pulaski County), Maximilian Wilson (Manassas, VA/Seton), and Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) finished in second place with a time of 1:41.07 and the team Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), Joshua Robinson (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's), Alton Smargiassi (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia), and Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) took fourth place with a 1:43.91.
Next up was the 1,650 yard freestyle and first-year Max Johnson (Clarksburg, MD/Clarksburg) came out on top with a 17.28.91 time. Leo Miller (Oak Forest, IL/Oak Forest) earned bronze with an 18:28.74, Jack DeLuca (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) finished in fifth place with an 18:57.85, and then Caleb Keener (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) rounded out the Wilkes swimmers with a 19:17.90 and a sixth place finish.
The final event of the first day was the 200 yard freestyle relay with the Colonels competing with two teams once again. The team of Lewis, Donato, Dainty, and DJ Hammond (Stone Mountain, GA/Stephenson) finished in third with a time of 1:30.48, and the team of DeLuca, Johnson, Miller, and Smargiassi took sixth place with a 1:36.89.
The Colonels look to continue this impressive start going into day two of the Electric City Invitational, which begins tomorrow at 9 a.m.
