Wilkes Women's Swimming and Diving in Third Place After First Day of the Electric City Invitational

The Wilkes University women's swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the Electric City Invitational hosted by Marywood University on Friday night alongside six other teams.

The Colonels sit at third place with 103 team points after one day behind Division II Lock Haven with 192 points and Marywood with 156 points. Behind Wilkes in fourth place is SUNY Oneonta with 85 points, and rounding out the top five is Lycoming with 70 points. In sixth place is Cedar Crest with 47 points, followed by King's with 14 points.

The first event was the 200 yard medley relay and Wilkes fielded two teams that finished in third place and eighth place, respectively. The third place team finished with a 1:58.09 and consisted of Izzy Sparaco (Macungie, PA/Emmaus), Emma Burlew (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley), Lea McCormick (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy), and Brynn Ullerich (Omaha, NE/Marian), while the eighth place team finished with a 2:17.49 and was made up of Emma Miller (Wyoming, PA/Dallas), Grace Cobb (Athens, PA/Athens Area), Pearl Hunter (York, PA/Northeastern), and Meghan Sandt (Easton, PA/Easton Area).

Cobb and Sandt then competed in the 1,650 yard freestyle. Cobb finished in sixth place with a time of 20:55.09, and Sandt was right behind her in seventh place with a 20:57.03.

The final event of the day was the 200 yard freestyle relay, and the team of Sandt, Miller, Cobb, and Alyssa Rounsaville (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) earned a seventh place finish with a 1:58.67 time.

Day two of the Electric City Invitational begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. for the Colonels.
