Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Earns Another Shutout Victory Over King's College

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes University men's ice hockey team shutout the King's College Monarchs for the second time in two days, winning 4-0 Saturday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.

Both teams played an even game through the first 20 minutes of action. The Colonels took nine shots in the period and the Monarchs took eight, but great play in net from Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) and Diego D'Alessandro kept the game scoreless going into the second period.

Wilkes took control of the game in the second as four different Colonels found the back of the net. It took just 46 seconds into the period for Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA/) to break the tie off an assist from Nick Del Gaizo (Basking Ridge, NJ/). Seven minutes later Matt Carlson (Delmar, NY/) added to the lead with a goal on the power play, and with 2:07 remaining he set up Daniel Nau (Wake Forest, NC/) for another Wilkes goal to make it 3-0. The last Colonel goal came in the final minute when Connor Movalli (Frisco, TX) made it 4-0.

The Colonels cruised their way through the third period to complete the two-game sweep and improve their record to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference play, while the Monarchs fell to 0-2 overall.

Lowe, Carlson, Nau, and Movalli each scored a goal, with Carlson also tallying an assist along with Del Gaizo, Miles Harrington (McDonough, GA/), Christian Blomquist (Wauwatosa, WI/), and Easton Stafford (Broomfield, CO/Colorado Connections Academy). Rolleman was excellent between the pipes once again for the Colonels with 19 saves.

The Colonels now go on the road for the first time this season next weekend against Lebanon Valley College for a two-game series. The first game is Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and the second game is the following day at 4 p.m.
