Bouchard Sets New Program Record as Wilkes Defeats Stevenson 8-1
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) set a new Wilkes women's ice hockey record for most goals in a single game as her four goals lifted Wilkes to an 8-1 win over Stevenson Saturday afternoon at the Toyota Sportsplex.
After tonight's win, Wilkes improves to 8-1-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference play while Stevenson falls to 0-11-1 and 0-7-1 in conference play.
Early into the first period, Delaney Howard (Pittsburgh, PA) found the back of the net to give Wilkes the advantage, but the Mustangs wasted no time and responded with a goal of their own to tie the game at one. Wilkes would regain control as Bouchard and Amanda Spreadbury (Suwanee, GA/) would each record a goal just minutes apart. Bouchard claimed her second goal of the night, capitalizing on a power-play to finish the first period 4-1.
After a scoreless second period, Howard notched her second goal 5:25 into the third period off a feed from Bouchard and Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia/Hoosac Prep School). Staying hot on the ice, Bouchard would complete her hat trick with a power-play goal at 7:40, and Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ/) would make it a six-goal advantage over the Mustangs as she recorded her first-goal of the night. In the final seconds, Bouchard would set a new program record as she buried her fourth goal of the night to seal the game at 8-1 over the Mustangs.
Wilkes outshot Stevenson with 41 SOG compared to the Mustang's 22 while also dominating the faceoff circle winning 65% of the faceoffs (35-54). Pacilio led in the circle going 10-5, and also led Wilkes with six SOG. Hudakova, Bouchard, and Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) each had four SOG while Bouchard and Hudakova both finished +4 and Ng finished +2. Hudakova also led in assists with three while Bouchard and Hannah Franz (North Bay, ON/) had two. Audrey Milne (London, ON) was given the decision, playing 53:41 minutes with 18 saves before Emily Connell (Berwick, NS) came in to finish the game, playing 6:19 minutes with three saves.
Abby Smith and Emma DeMan led with four SOG each while Meghan Croyle recorded three SOG and had the single goal of the night. Emily DeMan went 12-12 in the faceoff circle while all three goalies made appearances in the net with Erin Samuelson give the loss, playing 20:00 minutes with fives and four goals allowed, Maggie Sehnert playing 32:22 minutes with 21 saves, and Emily Carson playing 7:38 minutes with seven saves.
