Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Finishes Regular Season with Program-Best 20 Wins After 7-1 MAC Victory at Hood
 
HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team finished off its regular season with a program-best 20th win as the Colonels posted a 7-1 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory at Hood College on Friday night.
 
Wilkes concludes its record-setting regular season with a 20-4-1 overall record standing 18-2-1 in MAC play on way to the regular season championship and No. 1 seed in next week's MAC Tournament. Hood fell to 4-19-1 overall and 2-17-1 in league games.
 
Wilkes took a 2-0 lead after one period of play and ever looked back as Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK/NAHA White) scored twice in the frame at 4:19 and 4:50 respectively.
 
The Colonels pushed the advantage to 5-0 after three unanswered goals in the second period. Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ) scored off assists from Nina Hudakova and Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) at 13:34 to start the three-goal frame. Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON/St. David Catholic) added the second goal of the period and Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) scored on the power-play off helpers from Hudakova and Iida Laitinen (Jyväskylä, Finland) just before the period ended to finish off the rally.
 
Kaczorowski notched the fourth Wilkes goal 7:43 into the third period and Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) finished off the scoring with a goal just under five minutes left in the game.
 
Wilkes dominated play in its offensive end outshooting Hood 56-13. The Colonels also controlled the circle winning 42-of-64 face-offs.
 
Addy Olson (Naples, FL) played all 60minutes in net for Wilkes collecting the win making 12 saves.
 
Wilkes will remain idle before the start of the inaugural MAC Championship Tournament on Saturday, March 1 when the Colonels host No. 4 seed Alvernia University at 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex.
