Wilkes Baseball Open Weekend Homestand Against Juniata With 6-1 Win

EDWARDSVILLE, PA - The Wilkes baseball team advanced to 16-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play following a 6-1 win over Juniata in their first of three games in the weekend series against the Eagles.  

Juniata scored their lone run of the game in the second inning, with Zach Johnston advancing to third and then scoring on an error to get the Eagles on the board first. 

The Colonels got their first run on the board in the fourth inning, with Luke Spencer (Lehman, PA/Lake Lehman) scoring off a single to center field by Matt Show. Jack Mathis (Exeter PA/Wyoming Area) scored in the fifth after Spencer hit a single to left center field and Devin Markert (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) scored the Colonels third run in the sixth inning off a single to left field by Nathan Loch (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley)

Wilkes added three more runs in the eighth inning, with Luke Kraszewski (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) scoring after Jimmy Brazofsky (Park Ridge, NJ/Park Ridge) reached on a throwing error. Brazofsky then scored a run of his own after a triple to right field by Loch and Loch brought in the final run of the day after Tyler Uram (Carbondale Twp, PA/Lakeland) grounded out to the shortstop. 

On the mound, AJ Levandoski (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) pitched a complete game, recording 10 strikeouts while allowing only one run and five hits across all nine innings. 

The Colonels continue their weekend series against Juniata tomorrow, Sunday, April 6 with the first game of the day scheduled for 12 p.m.
