DALLAS - The Wilkes University women's cross country team finished in fifth place out of the six teams in the Cougar Classic on Saturday morning, hosted by Misericordia.

The Colonels finished with a 111 team score, and had three top-25 finishers in the 6K race.

Misericordia took the top spot with 37 team points, Princeton Running Club finished second with 53 team points, Misericordia's alumni team finished third with 84 points, and King's ended in fourth with 90 team points. 

Ava Bailor (Brogue, PA/Red Lion) was the top performer for the Colonels, finishing in 11th place with a time of 26:42.80. Both Ava O'Shield (Hoschton, GA/Mill Creek) and Julia Lewis (Hanover Township, PA/Wyoming Seminary) continue to impress in their first season in the Colonel program as O'Shield finished 22nd overall with a 31:00.20 time, while Lewis finished right behind her in 23rd place with a 31:12.40 time.

Annabeth Glass (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone Area) ended with a 32:04.80, good for 27th place, Mara Adams (Mehoopany, PA/Tunkhannock Area) finished in 28th place with a 33:06.60, and Audrey Cornell (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) finished 31st overall with a time of 34:11.60 in her season debut.

The next event for the Colonels is on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m at the Lock Haven University Open.
