Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 to Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Opener
EDWARDSVILLE – Elizabethtown College scored the game-winning goal at the 26:07 mark of the first half on way to a 1-0 shutout win over the host Wilkes University women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at Bruggeworth Field in both squads Landmark Conference opener.
Wilkes fell to 4-3-2 overall and 0-1 in Landmark play following the home defeat. Elizabethtown improved to 2-2-4 overall and 1-0 in conference matches.
Elizabethtown scored the lone goal of the match in the first half when Skylar Mumford touched a pass from Jenna Hoffmann that found the lower right side of the goal past Colonels goalie

Wilkes turned up the pressure late in the second half with several attempts that sailed wide or high of the Elizabethtown goal as the Colonels were unable to find the equalizer.
Wilkes outshot Elizabethtown 16-10 while garnering three corner kicks to the Blue Jays two attempts.
Ava Long (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished with four saves in net for Wilkes while Ella Smith made six stops to record the shutout for Elizabethtown.
Wilkes returns to the pitch Tuesday when the Colonels host Marywood University in a non-conference match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
