Wilkes Men's Swimming and Diving Splits Home Tri-Meet Against Scranton and Lebanon Valley
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes men's swimming and diving split their home tri-meet against University of Scranton and Lebanon Valley College, falling to Scranton 186 - 40 and beating the Dutchmen 157 - 38.
Following today's meet, the Colonels move to a 7-3 overall record and 2-1 in conference, while the Royals improve to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference, and the Dutchmen fall to 1-5 overall and remain 1-1 in the Middle Atlantic conference.
The Colonels opened the day with a top five finish in the 200-yard medley relay where the team of
Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge),
Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard), Derrick Hammond, and
Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) finished with a time of 1:43:59.
Lewis clinched the team's best result on the day, finishing runner-up in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.75.
First-years Max Wilson and
Tobias Misinay (Somerset, KY/Pulaski County) both claimed a podium spot, finishing third in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke respectively.
The blue and gold concluded the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay where
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton),
Max Johnson (Clarksburg, MD/Clarksburg), Wilson, and Donato earned a time of 1:34.25.
Wilkes returns to action on Saturday, January 17, where they travel to Huntingdon for a tri-meet against Juniata and Lycoming.
