Hartranft, Romberger Earn Podium Finishes; Wilkes Men's Wrestling Places 15th at Pete Willson Invitational
 
WHEATON, IL – The Wilkes University men's wrestling team concluded competition at the 2026 Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday as the Colonels finished in 15th place with two wrestlers earning podium finishes.

Wilkes finished with a team score of 36 points in the 31-team field with 10 nationally ranked programs. Roanoke College earn the title with 154 team points while Wisconsin-Lacrosse was second with 148.5 points.
 
Jaryn Hartranft (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) and Ashton Romberger (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) each claimed podium finishes at the 31-team event with Hartranft finishing in fourth place at 157-pounds while Romberger claimed eighth at 141-pounds.
 
Romberger opened his second day of competition with a hard-fought loss to regionally ranked Casper Calzzo of Ohio Northern University before falling in the seventh place bout to regionally ranked Wisconsin Eau-Claire's Ty Fink in a back-and-forth 11-8 decision. For the tournament, the first year finished with two wins including a win over regionally ranked Adam Sharpley of John Carroll in the blood round.
 
Hartranft started off the day with a pair of regionally ranked wins over John Penchi of Wisconsin LaCrosse (fall in 1:06) and Londen Murphy of Ohio Northern (7-4 decision) to reach the third place bout. There Hartranft would meet No. 9 nationally Casey Smith of Roanoke where the senior fell settling for fourth place. For the tournament, Hartranft ended his weekend 4-2 with three regionally ranked wins and moved to 94 career victories in the process.
 
The Colonels return home to host a tri-match on Thursday with matches against Kean University at 6:00 p.m. and the University of Scranton at 7:30 p.m. in the Marts Center.
