The Profs came out firing, knocking down their first three shots to jump out to a quick 7–0 lead. Wilkes' first seven points came from senior Mason Fedor (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), capped off by a three-pointer to trim Rowan's lead to 12–5. After an Ethan Sheffey (Lothian, MD/Southern) layup pulled the Colonels within 15–13, the Profs scored six points in 17 seconds, eventually opening up a nine-point lead. Wilkes responded with six straight points of its own, but a Rowan layup and consecutive threes opened the Profs lead to 32–21 with 4:27 remaining in the first half. Every time it looked Rowan was going to pull away in the first half, the Colonels had an answer. This time, it was a 7–0 run fueled by a Brian Britton (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia) three-pointer and four straight points from Daniel Santaniello (Roaring Brook Twp., PA/Scranton Prep), trimming the Profs lead to 32–28. Rowan stretched its lead back to eight, before Sheffey buried a half-court shot at the buzzer, making it a 38–33 Profs lead at the half. The Profs came out firing in the second half, using a 22–7 run in the first six minutes to open up a 20-point lead, 60–40. The Colonels did not go down without a fight, as five straight points, including a first career three-pointer from center Matt Remias (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) cut Rowan's lead to 64–52 with 10:38 remaining. Then, a 7–0 Colonels run, capped off by a Santaniello triple, pulled Wilkes within single digits, 67–59, with 8:11 remaining. Another Santaniello three pulled Wilkes within seven with 5:18 remaining, but that would be as close as the Colonels got, and Rowan held on for an 80–69 final. Santaniello led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting, and Remias added 13 points and two blocks in only 18 minutes. The Colonels shot 42 percent from the floor, and 7-of-21 from beyond the arc. James Johns Jr. led Rowan with 21 points, one of four Profs to finish in double-figures. The Profs also shot a blistering 11-of-19 (57.9%) from downtown. The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for a cross-town rivalry at King's at 8 p.m. Print Friendly Version
