Wilkes Women's Swimming and Diving Ends Day One in Seventh Place at the Landmark Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Wilkes University women's swimming and diving team ended day one of the Landmark Conference Championships in seventh place out of 10 teams Thursday evening at the Mangione Aquatic Center.

Day One Results

Catholic sits atop the podium after the first day with 80 points. Second place is Scranton with 66 points, followed by Drew and Juniata in a tie for third place with 62 points. Susquehanna is in fifth with 58 points, Elizabethtown is in sixth with 52 points, and then Wilkes in seventh with 48 points. 

Rounding out the rankings are Lycoming in eighth place(40), Moravian in ninth place(22), and Goucher (14) in 10th place.

The Colonels started by competing in the 200 medley relay, where the team of Izzy Sparaco (Macungie, PA/Emmaus), Emily Pironti, Brynn Ullerich (Omaha, NE/Marian), and Emma Burlew (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) came in seventh place with a 1:57.06.

Next up was the 800 freestyle relay, and Wilkes came in seventh place again with a team of Burlew, Grace Cobb (Athens, PA/Athens Area), Lea McCormick (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy), and Ullerich finishing with a time of 8:35.16.

The Colonels look to rise up the ranks tomorrow with day two of the Landmark Championships scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
