Wilkes Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes Sixth at the Landmark Conference Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Wilkes University men's swimming and diving team secured a sixth place finish on the final day of the Landmark Conference Championships Sunday afternoon at the Mangione Aquatic Center.

Final Results

The final day began with the 200 backstroke prelims, and both Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) and Maximilian Wilson (Manassas, VA/Seton) qualified for the finals by earning top 16 finishes. 

In the finals, Piotrowski finished in 12th place with a 2:03.78, but Wilson was just 0.01 seconds behind him in 13th place with a 2:03.79. Piotrowski's time was also a new program record by 0.15 seconds.

Max Johnson (Clarksburg, MD/Clarksburg) also set a new program record in the 1650 freestyle. The first-year broke his own record by over 12 seconds with a time of 17:16.15. Overall, he broke two individual program records over the four days of competition, and helped the 800 freestyle team break another record.

The next event was the 100 freestyle prelims, and Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) punched his ticket to the finals with a 49.76. He then earned a 16th place finish in the finals with a 50.32. Leo Miller (Oak Forest, IL/Oak Forest), Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton), and Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) competed alongside Lewis in the prelims, but just missed the cut.

Miller came in 22nd with a 51.45, Dainty came in 24th with a 51.69, and Donato finished in 26th with a 52.16.

After a stellar showing on day three, Tobias Misinay (Somerset, KY/Pulaski County) kept the momentum rolling by qualifying for the 200 breaststroke finals with a 2:22.68. He then took home a 13th place finish in the finals with a 2:21.10.

The last individual event was the 200 butterfly, and both Caleb Keener (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) and Josh Leonard (Athens, PA/Athens Area) made it to the finals as top 16 finishers. In the finals, Keener finished 13th with a 2:09.80, and Leonard finished 16th with a 2:12.52.

To close out the Championships, the Colonels fielded a team of Lewis, Piotrowski, Wilson, and Misinay for the 400 freestyle. That team ended in fifth place with a 3:19.05.
