WILKES-BARRE – Aiden Amon's (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) 13 kills helped spur the Wilkes University men's volleyball team to a clean sweep at the Marts Center on Wednesday night, defeating Neuman University 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-21).

Wilkes improves to 7-9 on the year, while Neumann falls to 1-6 overall.

The Colonels opened the first set with an 8-0 run to firmly take control of the game and added another six-point run after two Neumann points to take a 14-2 lead that they would never relinquish en route to a 25-14 set win.

Wilkes dominated the early part of the second set as well, cruising to a 14-4 lead with kills from Amon, Aidan Hunter (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson), Johnnathan Rocha (Wilkes Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer), and Joshua Conley (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South). An Aaron Ladd (Souderton, PA/Pennridge) kill and ace gave Wilkes the set win 25-12.

Neumann kept the third set close, not letting Wilkes get more than a three-point advantage before eventually tying the game at 17. Three kills from Amon over a final 8-4 stretch pushed the Colonels to the sweep with a 25-21 set victory.

Amon led Wilkes with 13 kills, followed by Ladd with seven and Rocha with six. Conley led all players with 31 assists. Alex Derk (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) led the defense with a game-high nine digs.

Trey Edmonds led Neumann with 14 kills, while Noah Banaag added 15 assists. Arian Santos led the Knight defense with seven digs.

Wilkes returns to the court for a tri-match at Bard College featuring the Raptors and Mount Aloysius College at 12:00 p.m.
