Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Drops Road Clash at FDU-Florham 11-3

MADISON, N.J. - The Wilkes University men's lacrosse team dropped their second-straight game, an 11-3 loss to the FDU-Florham Devils Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Colonels fall to 1-3 with the loss, while the Devils improve to 2-0.

The Devils outshot the Colonels 12-2 in the first quarter, and quickly raced out to a 4-0 lead after 15 minutes of action.

Wilkes scored their first goal of the game down 5-0 when Lucas Ortenberg (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) found the back of the net with 39 seconds remaining in the first half, but FDU-Florham got that one back just 26 seconds later thanks to a Justin Perillo goal to lead 6-1 at halftime.

The home team then scored the first three goals of the second half to push their lead to 9-1, and that put the Colonels away for good.

Blaine Snyder (Germansville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) netted Wilkes' final two goals of the game, while the Devils tacked on two more goals as well to reach the final score.

Individually, Snyder led the Colonels with two points, while Perillo finished with six points to lead the Devils on three goals and three assists. He also got a three-goal game from Luke Dugan, and a four-point game from Anthony DiGiacomo.

Anthony Pieroni earned the win in net for the Devils, and Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) took the loss for Wilkes, allowing all 11 goals and making four saves.

As a team, FDU-Florham finished with more shots (38-33), shots on goal (15-10), ground balls (26-21), and faceoff wins (10-6).

The Colonels return to the field on Tuesday, March 3 for a road game against Arcadia University. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
