Wilkes Women's Wrestling Finishes 10th at NCAA Regionals; Three Top-Six Finishers
ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Wilkes University women's wrestling team finished in 10
th place overall as three Colonels earned top-six finishes at the event.
Wilkes finished with 40.5 total team points on way to tenth place of – teams at the event. Sacred Heart claimed the regional championship with 170 total team points while Western New England came in second with 159.5 points and host Elmira College third with 115.5 points.
Grace Riley (Wood Ridge, NJ/Paramus Catholic) (117-pounds),
Milly Hughes (Jefferson, GA/Jefferson) (138-pounds) and
Carina Rivera (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) (180-pounds) all earned sixth place finishes at the event.
Riley went 2-2 on day one to earn a spot in the fifth place match before falling to Madeline Li of New England College by a 15-9 decision.
Hughes went 1-2 on day one moving onto the fifth place match before losing by fall in 2:05 to Gabby Bradigan of Elmira.
Rivera posted a 2-2 mark on day one before dropping a 12-2 technical fall to Riley Wentlent of D'Youville in the fifth place match.
