Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Moves to 3-0 After 13-8 Win Against Bryn Mawr
EDWARDSVILLE –
Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Wilkes University women's lacrosse team to a 13-8 non-conference victory over Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
Wilkes remains unbeaten at 3-0 to start the season while Bryn Mawr dropped to 0-1 after its season opener.
Wilkes jumped out to a 5-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back, never trailing in the contest. Bryn Mawr answered back with four goals in the second quarter as Wilkes took an 8-6 lead at the break, but the Colonels then outscored the Owls 5-2 over the second 30 minutes of play to seal the victory.
Sparks topped six different Colonels who posted two or more points in the win.
Emily Jackson (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) enjoyed her finest offensive output of the year finishing with three goals while
Nina-Lily Veale (Franklin, TN/Franklin) added one goal and two assists.
Alexis Guttilla (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by-the-Sea),
Morgan Hettesheimer (Monroe Twp., PA/Tunkhannock Area) and
Madyson Martinez (Owasso, OK/Owasso) each added two goals.
Davyn Bonvie (Wyoming, PA/Dallas) moved to 3-0 in net for Wilkes finishing with a season-high seven saves.
Wilkes outshot Bryn Mawr 32-19 while converting 14-of-17 clears.
Wilkes remains idle until Wednesday when the Colonels take to the road for the first time this season at Sweet Briar College starting at 5:00 p.m.
