WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's wrestling team cruised to a 37-6 victory over Kean University in a dual match Thursday night at the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes moved to 3-6 overall in dual matches on the season following the home victory.
 
Wilkes used extra-point wins in all eight of the bouts in the contest including four falls and three technical falls.
 
Gabriela Vasquez (San Antonio, TX/Conerstone Christian Schools) began the match at 103-pounds with a 10-0 technical fall in 1:46 over Gianna DeThomas. After a double forfeit at 110-pounds, Grace Riley (Wood Ridge, NJ/Paramus Catholic) was the first Colonels winner by fall when she pinned Dasha Flores in 27 seconds at 117-pounds. Haylee Robinson (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) followed with a fall over Kaydence Oakley in 2:13 at 124-pounds and Abbigale Bowman (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) pinned Kioni Lewis in 1:43 at 131-pounds to push the Wilkes lead to 19-0 after five bouts.
 
After a forfeit win, Angel Upright (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) took her 145-pound bout by technical fall in 2:57 at 11-0 over Je'Syah Williams. Kimberlee Hechler (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) added a technical fall 12-1 in 1:21 at 160-pounds and Carina Rivera (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) finished off the scoring for the Colonels with a fall over Aylin Calle in 5:19.
 
Wilkes is back on the mat Saturday with another double dual against Arcadia University and host Muhlenberg College starting at 7:00 p.m.
