ASTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's ice hockey team took to the ice on the road against Neumann University on Friday night, falling away from home in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play, 6-2.
Following the defeat, the Colonels fell to 11-7-3 (8-7-2 MAC), while Neumann improved their 2025-26 record to 13-7-1 (12-5-1 MAC).
Neumann began their high-flying first period just under six minutes in when Max Donohoe lit the lamp to give the hosts the early lead.
The Knights began a run of three goals in less than five minutes when Matt Dimaline scored at 11:52 into the opening period. Dimaline scored again at 13:24, this time on the power play to give Neumann a 3-0 lead.
Judd Katz then scored at 16:45 to make it 4-0, and later, with just nine second left in the first period, Akezhan Melis found twine to give the hosts a 5-0 going into the first intermission.
The Colonels showed signs of life as they battled in the second period, out-shooting Neumann 17-5 in the frame. However, nothing came to fruition as the Knights went into the second intermission up 6-0, following a goal late in the period from Dexton Mozell.
Wilkes' efforts were finally rewarded when
Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI/) gave the Colonels life three minutes into the final period to make it a 6-1 contest.
Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA/) followed it up with a goal ten minutes later to make it 6-2.
From there, however, the Knights locked down defensively and the Colonels were unable to tally more goals.
Between the pipes for Wilkes,
Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) made eight saves in the loss, while
Ryan Hacker (Elgin, IL), who came into the contest in relief, made four stops. Lowe and
Christian Blomquist (Wauwatosa, WI/) led the team with five shots on goal each.
For Neumann, Christian Green made 34 saves in the victory. Shawn Eliav led the Knights with three shots on goal.
The Colonels play host tomorrow, Feb. 6 for the final time this season when they welcome Arcadia University to home ice at the Toyota Sportplex. Puck drop against the Knights is slated for 7 p.m.
Tomorrow's game also serves as Senior Day for the Colonels, where seven of the team's players will be honored during a pre-game ceremony.
