ALLENTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University women's wrestling team split a pair of matches at the Muhlenberg College tri-match on Saturday night. The Colonels first fell 30-18 to Arcadia University before recording its fourth dual match win of the season posting a 29-14 victory over host Muhlenberg.
 
Wilkes improved to 4-7 overall following the event in dual match competition.
 
In the first match of the night, Wilkes fell behind early trailing 10-0 after two bouts. Grace Riley (Wood Ridge, NJ/Paramus Catholic) recorded a technical fall in 1:36 (10-0) at 117-pounds and Haylee Robinson (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) added a forfeit at 124-pounds to tie the match at 10. The teams traded extra points as Arcadia grabbed a fall at 131 while Angel Upright (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) earned a technical fall in 5:45 (12-2) at 138-pounds. Arcadia then opened up the lead with back to back wins with a forfeit and technical fall at 145 and 160. Carina Rivera (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) was the final wrestler to score points for the Colonels when she received a forfeit at 180-pounds.
 
In the victory against Muhlenberg, Gabriela Vasquez (San Antonio, TX/Conerstone Christian Schools) began the match with a forfeit at 103 before Muhlenberg matched those points with a forfeit at 110. Riley (117) posted her second extra-point win with a fall in 1:31 while Robinson did the same with pin of Alessandra Rodriguez in 2:56 at 124-pounds.
 
After another Wilkes forfeit win at 131, Abbigale Bowman (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) notched a fall over Ella Pomeranz in 5:00 and Rivera rounded out the scoring for Wilkes with a 4-2 decision at 180-pounds over Gelia Brutus.
 
The Colonels close out their dual match scheduled Friday at Ithaca College at 6:00 p.m.
