Smith, Gitski Named 2026 NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans
MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the list 2026 Division III Scholar All-Americans Thursday morning, with
Gus Smith (Royersford, PA/Springford) and
Trevor Gitski (Alburtis, PA/Emmaus) among those selected to the honor.
This is the first Scholar All-American nod for both Smith and Gitski, with the former becoming the first first-year student-athlete in program history since
Cameron Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) to win the award.
The duo makes up part of the 473 Division III student-athletes representing 105 institutions that were recognized for their academic success in the classroom while competing throughout the season.
These outstanding student-athletes have demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:
WRESTLING: (Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2)
- Place in top 8 in the regional tournament
- Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.
- Matches with teammates will count only if they happened in a tournament
- Matches set up between teammates will not count
ACADEMICS (Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2)
- Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
