Trio From Wilkes Women's Basketball Named Academic All-District® by College Sports Communicators
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University women's basketball seniors
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) and
Madison Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) as well as sophomore
Dana Wartzenluft (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine Heights) have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the second consecutive season that Matos has been named to the award and first for Robel and Wartzenluft.
To be chosen to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® Team, a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and must have competed in 90 percent of the games or must have started at least 66 percent of the games for their team.
Matos played in all 25 games for the Colonels this past season, starting 24, and led the team averaging 12 points per game. In January, Matos eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone for her career, becoming the thirteenth player in program history to achieve the feat. In the classroom, the psychology and nursing double major earned a 3.69 cumulative GPA.
Robel played 23 games in her senior year, starting five. The Middlesex, N.J. native earned a 3.56 GPA in pursuit of a biology degree.
Wartzenluft also played in 23 games this past season, earning the award in her first year of eligibility, earning a 3.72 GPA while working towards a degree in mechanical engineering.
