Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls to Lebanon Valley 23-12

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Wilkes University men's lacrosse team lost their fourth-straight game after a 23-12 defeat to the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels fall to 1-4 this season, while the Flying Dutchmen improve to 4-1.

LVC scored the first nine goals of the game thanks to a strong first quarter. They outshot Wilkes 22-3 in the frame, including 16-1 in shots on goal, and led 9-1 going into the second quarter.

The Colonels' only goal of the first quarter came from Tim Hartka (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) off an assist from Mac Jackson (Long Valley, NJ/Seton Hall Prep), and then Stone Sosnovik (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) found the back of the net at the 13:09 mark of the second quarter to make it 9-2.

Following five-straight goals by the Dutchmen, Ben Byers (Harding, PA/Wyoming Area) scored Wilkes' third goal and Hartka tacked on another two goals before halftime. LVC eventually took a 15-5 lead into the break.

The Dutchmen outscored the Colonels 4-2 during the third quarter to lead 19-7 going into the fourth, and in the final frame Wilkes scored another five goals while LVC scored four to reach the final score.

Hartka and the Sosnovik brothers each finished the game with three points. Hartka and S. Sosnovik both scored three goals, and A. Sosnovik had two goals and one assist. For LVC, Hayden Carling finished with three goals and three assists, but Sean Poole led the team in goals with a five-goal afternoon.

Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) took the loss in net for Wilkes with 17 saves and 18 goals allowed in 33:42 of action, being replaced by Logan Ryan (Cropseyville, NY/Tamarac) for the final 26:18. Ryan finished with nine saves and five goals allowed in relief. Meanwhile, Kellen Markley earned the win for the Dutchmen with five goals allowed and zero saves in 33:14.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. for their home opener against King's College.
