Wilkes Men's Volleyball Concludes Season Defeating King's, 3-1
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes men's volleyball team closed out its 2025-26 season with a 3-1 victory over King's College Thursday evening at McGrane Gymnasium. With the win, the Colonels finish the year 13-15 overall and 0-7 in Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) play.
Wilkes opened the match with an early 6-3 advantage in the first set, as
Carter Otto (Mountain View, CA/Mountain View),
Logan Maha (Sayville, NY/Sayville), and
Aaron Ladd (Souderton, PA/Pennridge) each contributed two points during the stretch. The Colonels maintained the lead until King's responded with a 7-3 run to even the score at 11. The teams traded points through the middle stages, but the Monarchs used a late 7-2 surge to take control and claim the opening set 25-20.
The Colonels answered in the second set, jumping out to an early lead before King battled back to tie the frame at 10. From there, the teams exchanged points in a tightly contested battle. Wilkes created separation late with a 4-1 run to move within two points of the set, and despite a 4-0 response from the Monarchs to even the score at 23, the Colonels secured the final two points to take the set 25-23 and even the match.
Wilkes carried that momentum into the third set, taking control early and never relinquishing the lead en route to a 25-18 victory.
Marcus Binner (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) paced the offense with three kills in the set, while Ladd and Otto added two apiece. The Colonels were dominant at the net, hitting .389 compared to King's .190 while also recording two blocks.
In the fourth set, Wilkes continued its strong play, building a 6-3 lead before extending the advantage with a 6-2 run. The Colonels appeared poised to close out the match, but King's responded with a late 6-0 run to tie the set at 21. Wilkes remained composed down the stretch, however, securing a 25-22 set win, with Otto accounting for three of the final four points to seal the match.
Otto led the Colonels with a match-high and career-best 20 kills. Ladd contributed at both the service line and the net with four aces and two blocks, while
Joshua Conley (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South) dished out a team-high 45 assists.
Alex Derk (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) anchored the defense with 11 digs.
King's was led by Greg Bousquet with 14 kills, while Ben Maskiell recorded 32 assists and Aiden Glasgow posted a team-high 15 digs.
