Wilkes Men's Golf Picked Ninth in the Landmark Conference Championship Poll

TOWSON, Md. - The Wilkes University men's golf team was picked ninth in the Landmark Conference Championship Poll, as announced by the conference Friday afternoon.

The Colonels earned 14 team points in the coaches' championship poll.

Wilkes finished ninth at the Landmark Championships last season, and Cole Jungwirth (Minneapolis, MN/Thomas Jefferson) finished as their top performer with a 157, good enough for 16th place overall.

This time around the team goes into the two-day championship with a 5-6-1 record, and boasts a roster of seven players that averaged under 90 strokes per contest.

Sophomore Brady Noone (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area) has had another productive season for the navy and gold. He's been the top scorer for Wilkes seven times this season, and his 80.1 average score is a team-best by two whole strokes.

Alongside him, Jayden Bleiler (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) and Dane Shutter have made an impact in their first season in the Colonel program. Bleiler averaged 82.1 strokes per contest and Shutter averaged 84.3 strokes per contest. Both have been consistent top 10 finishers for the Colonels throughout the season.

Rounding out this group are Trey Hilbert (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), Daniel Nau (Wake Forest, NC/Heritage), Ryan Hacker (Elgin, IL/American School), and Matthew Carlson (Delmar, NY/Albany Academy). All four have been solid contributors all season long and look to end the year on a high note.

The Landmark Championships will take place on April 26-27 at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Admission to the event is free for everyone.
