WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University athletic department released the 2026 schedule for the Wilkes Field Hockey team Thursday, continuing a series of schedule releases for all fall sports teams.

Last season, the Colonels finished 10-11 overall and reached the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Tournament, after earning their first playoff win as a part of the conference against Drew in the First Round. Ashley Irwin leads the team in her fourth season at the helm of the program.

The season kicks off on Wednesday, September 2^nd as the Colonels travel to face Kean University at 7:00 p.m. The first game of the year at Schmidt Stadium comes on Sept. 5^th, welcoming the Red Hawks of Montclair State for a 1:00 p.m. contest. The blue and gold then face Alvernia University on the road on Sept. 9^th for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Golden Wolves, before hosting Senior Day on Sept. 11 against Oswego State at 7:00 p.m.

A matchup with cross-town rival King's College on Sept. 12 kicks off a three-game road trip followed by Ithaca College on Sept. 16 (7:00 p.m.) and McDaniel College on Sept. 19 (1:00 p.m.). Last year, the Colonels defeated the Green Terror in overtime thanks to a goal by Maddie Karp (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area).

The team then returns to Schmidt Stadium for three consecutive games, starting with Eastern University on Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m. Wilkes then opens Landmark play on Sept. 26 against Elizabethtown at 1:00 p.m., and closes non-conference play on Sept. 30 against Utica University at 4:30 p.m.

Another three-game road stretch then begins as the Colonels shift their focus fully to Landmark play, beginning with a trip to Juniata College on October 3 for a 4:00 p.m. contest with the Eagles. The Colonels then face Susquehanna University on Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m., and close the road trip at Catholic University on Oct. 10 at 1:00 p.m.

Wilkes kicks off back-to-back games at Schmidt Stadium on Oct. 13 hosting Drew University at 7:00 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Landmark First Round under the lights. The Colonels then welcome Goucher College to Schmidt Stadium on Oct. 17 for a 1:00 p.m. weekend meeting with the Gophers.

The final road stand of the year begins on Oct. 20, as the Colonels travel back to the University of Scranton looking to avenge the 3-2 loss they suffered in the Landmark Semifinals last season. The final road contest of the year comes on Oct. 24, traveling to Bethlehem, Pa. to face the Greyhounds of Moravian University at 1:00 p.m. Wilkes closes the season on home turf on Oct. 27, hosting Lycoming College at 7:00 p.m.

Wilkes will continue to release its 2026 fall schedules with women's soccer on Friday.
