Wilkes Women's Soccer Dominates Mount Aloysius with 5-0 Victory
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's soccer team hosted their final non-conference game at Bruggeworth Field for the season on Wednesday night, defeating Mount Aloysius College 5-0.
Wilkes improves to 5-3 with the win, while Mount Aloysius falls to 0-5-1.
The scoring started early for the Colonels, as
Elena Krajain (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) whipped a ball right into the path of
Emma Devers (Macungie, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) with just 1:20 off the clock for her first collegiate goal. The hosts doubled the lead in the 35
th minute as
Ava Young (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) dribbled past the goaltender and fired home her first goal to give Wilkes the 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Devers added her second of the day in the 51
st minute, extending the lead to 3-0.
Mia Black (Swarthmore, PA/Delaware Valley Friends School) also got on the scoresheet in the 63
rd minute, driving home the cross from
Ashlyn Brown (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) at the near post to make it a 4-0 game. Katie Clark added the Colonels' fifth in the 72
nd minute as she finished a cross from
Morgan Sweed (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen), putting the Mounties away.
The Colonels out-shot Mount Aloysius 21-4 with 18 on target compared to the Mounties' two. Devers led all players with four shots, all on target, and her first career brace.
Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) made two saves in goal, teaming with
Seren Oliver (Katy, TX/Tompkins) for a combined clean sheet.
Wilkes now prepares for Landmark Conference play, opening at Elizabethtown College on Saturday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m.
