Joe Champi '18 returns to the staff for the 2024 season for his third on the staff overall as an assistant coach for the Wilkes baseball program. He previously served as a Graduate Assistant for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Champi had an illustrious career for the Navy and Gold as a four-year starter from 2015-2018. During that time, Champi was named Third Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by D3baseball.com, First Team All-MAC Freedom as a senior and sophomore, and Second Team All-MAC Freedom as a freshman.
Champi ranks fifth in RBI's (124), tied for fifth in doubles (35), sixth in hits (168), and tied for tenth in at-bats (446) during his career. In 2016, Champi had the sixth-most hits in a season with 55, tied the sixth best mark for triples with five, notched a tie for seventh-most RBI's with 43, and stepped to the plate 136 times, tied for 14th in a season.
Champi graduated from Wilkes in 2018 with a degree in Sports Management.
