Charlotte MacDonald begins her second season as the head coach of the Wilkes field hockey team in 2022.

During her first season in 2021 she mentored two All-MAC Freedom selections including First Team member Morghan Murphy. Murphy was also named Second Team All-Region by the NFHCA. Nine Colonels were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad while Lauren Shiplett earned the NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction award. The Colonels as a whole earned distinction as a 2021 NFHCA Division III National Academic Team.

Before joining Wilkes MacDonald spent two years as head coach at Castleton University in Vermont where she led the squad to an 11-8 overall record in 2019 including an 8-4 mark in Little East Conference (LEC) play and a spot in the quarterfinals. She coached four Spartans to All-Conference honors including the LEC Rookie of the Year during the season.
 
Her team at Castleton also had great success in the classroom where it received the LEC Academic Award, topping all other field hockey programs with an average grade point average of 3.53. The team also landed 14 players on the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
 
Prior to her time at Castleton, MacDonald spent one year as an assistant coach at Dickinson College where she helped mentor two All-Conference selections and one All-Region honoree.
 
MacDonald also spent time at Shenandoah University as an assistant, aiding in the development of five All-ODAC players, as well as one All-State and one All-Region honoree. She also helped recruit the 2018 ODAC Rookie of the Year for the Hornets.
 
Outside of the collegiate landscape, MacDonald spent two years working for USA Field Hockey as a head coach, assistant coach and a tournament selector and earned her USA Field Hockey Level 2 certification in July 2016. She also spent three years coaching youth players in a travel program and one season coaching at the Foxcroft School in Virginia, helping guide the team to a DAC Championship while coaching seven All-Conference players.
 
On the playing field, MacDonald was a four-year member and three-year starter for Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, appearing in 69 games and amassing 41 career points. As a senior team captain in 2015, she helped guide the Generals to a first-place finish in the regular season and an appearance in the ODAC Championship game for the first time in ten seasons. She was also an NFHCA Senior All-Star selection. MacDonald graduate from Washington and Lee with a degree in Classics.
