Erin Moran begins her first season as head coach on the Wilkes field hockey sidelines in 2019.
Moran is no stranger to the Wilkes field hockey team, serving as an assistant coach during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. The Colonels reached the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament both years, finishing a combined 8-6 in conference play. While serving on the Wilkes bench, Moran assisted in recruiting efforts, helped develop practice plans and game day preparation, and coordinated film analysis.
In addition to her experience with the Colonels, Moran has also served as a coach with Majestyx Field Hockey Club since 2016. In that role, Moran developed practice plans, ran practices, handled penalty corners for the offense and defense, and coordinated set offenses while helping the club to the 2016 U14 National Championship. Her teams qualified three times for the National Indoor Tournament including a second-place finish for the U19 team at the Shooting Star Invitational in Milford, N.H. Moran also served as a varsity assistant coach at Dallas High School from 2013-2017.
Moran, who graduated from Slippery Rock with a degree in Elementary Education in 2012 and earned a Master's of Education from California University of Pennsylvania, served as a four-year member of Slippery Rock field hockey team.
During her career, Moran earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division honors as a sophomore and junior. She was named to the All-Academic Squad all four years, and served as a team captain her junior and senior season, the latter of which earned a bid to the PSAC tournament for the first time since 1987. Moran was named the team's Defensive MVP in both 2010 and 2011, and finished her senior season with the second most defensive saves in the nation.
