Albert Young begins his first season with the Colonels football staff in the 2021 season as the running backs coach.
Young comes to Wilkes after a couple of coaching stints at different colleges, including University of Pittsburgh as the assistant strength and conditioning coach, and University of Colorado as offensive quality control.
He played running back at both the college and professional level. He played for the Minnesota Vikings (2008-11), the Jacksonville Jaguars (2011), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2012). At the college level, he was third on the all-time leading rusher list for the University of Iowa with 3,173 rushing yards. He led the Big Ten in rushing yards in 2005, and earned All-Big Ten honors in 2005 and 2007.
