Chris Sankus begins his first season on the Wilkes football staff as the Colonels defensive line coach after joining the program in February of 2022.
He coached Second Team All-MAC defensive lineman Adam Piston and Honorable Mention defensive lineman Angel Ramos in 2022.
He comes to Wilkes following a two-year stint at Iowa Wesleyan University where he served as the defensive line coach, video coordinator, front seven coordinator, and run game coordinator during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Sankus helped breakdown film of opponents and created defensive schemes including new blitzes and stunts.
Prior to Iowa Wesleyan, Sankus was a member of the Ave Maria University football staff for four seasons. There he helped run defensive line drills, and helped run scout team offense for the defense during team sections. He was also involved in the film breakdown of opponents and game plan creation for each week. He served as Ave Maria's video coordinator for two years. During games Sankus charted defensive plays called and opponent offensive plays ran.
Sankus started four games as a freshman at Allegheny College on the defensive line during the 2015 season.
Sankus is a 2020 graduate of Ave Maria with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan in the spring of 2022 with a Masters in Management in Leadership with a concentration in Athletic Administration.
