George Coles

This bio is now a part of a historical archive, the individual was on the coaching staff in 2023 and is no longer employed by Wilkes University. 

George Coles joins the Wilkes football staff in 2023 serving as the Running Backs coach.

He comes to Wilkes after serving as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator for Hoke County High School in Raeford, N.C. He also worked with the tight ends during his time in this role for Hoke County since June 2020 as he taught student-athletes the basics of particular positions while also assisted in calling offensive play. Coles prepared scouting reports, broke down film, and graded player game performances. In 2019 he served as the head coach for West Hoke Middle School. 

He is a current AFCA member and a member of the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches.

Prior to his time with Hoke County School, Coles was an Offensive Line and Tight End Coach Intern at Ferrum College from October 2018 until May 2019.

Coles earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Ferrum College with minors in Education, Psychology, and Sociology in May 2019. Coles played offensive line at Ferrum, starting at right tackle his freshman and sophomore year before moving to left guard his junior and senior year. 

He served as a Kindergarten teacher from August 2019 to June 2022 at West Hoke Elementary School before moving to Hoke County High School in August 2022 as a Physical Education Teacher. Coles graduated Lloyd C Bird High School in June 2014.
