Hazlet enters his second season with the Wilkes coaching staff after 13 years as a head coach at the high school level. He served as the head coach at Karns City from 1995-2000, reaching the PIAA state quarterfinals in 1997 and 1999 and was the coach of the year in 1997. In 2000, he became the head coach at Dubois for five seasons where his team was the co-conference champions in 2000 and 2001 and made the District 6/9 semifinals in 2001.
Before coming to Wilkes, he was the head coach at Pittston from 2005-2008. Hazlet served as the head coach for Team Pennsylvania in the Down Under Bowl in Australia as well as the head coach of the North South All Stars in 1998.
