Matt Henning begins his second season on the Wilkes football staff in 2024 serving as the Video Coordinator while coaching the Defensive Line for the Colonels.
He joins Wilkes after serving as the Linebackers Coach for Concordia University Chicago from 2020-2022 as a Defensive Graduate Assistant. He also served as the Defensive Line Coach in 2022. During his time in charge of the Concordia linebackers he recruited and coached the 2021 team leader in tackles, coached one All-Conference player and one Male Student-Athlete of the Year. In 2022 he coached two All-Conference defensive linemen, as well as recruiting the team leader in tackles and the team leader in pass breakups. He recruited eight players from the 2022 class from Texas, Florida , Georgia, and Illinois.
Henning also managed the film crew, uploaded all film to Hudl, and did film breakdown and scouting report development as well as creating practice scout cards using Microsoft Visio.Â
Henning graduated in May 2020 with his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a minor in Marketing from Concordia University Chicago and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Concordia University Chicago in December 2022.
During his time as a undergraduate he was a member of Concordia's NACC football team in 2017, 2018, and 2019, serving as a team captain. He graduated high school from Prairie Ridge High School where he played football in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. He served as a team captain and received the team's Most Dedicated Award.
