Former Colonel standout Chris DeRojas enters his first season on the bench for Wilkes in 2011-12.
 
DeRojas was a four-year letter winner for Wilkes from 2007-2011. The sharpshooting guard finished sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,535 points and eighth in field goals made (507). He also ranks third in three-pointers made with 220 and attempt with 596. DeRojas leaves as the school’s all-time leader in free throw percentage hitting 87.9 percent from the charity stripe as a Colonel. He also ranks in the top ten in steals (123), assists (230), and games played (100).
 
The Dallas, Pa. native also holds several single-game school records at Wilkes. His career-best 37-point performances against Alvernia in 2008-09 and Lycoming in 2009-10 rank fifth all-time. During his rookie campaign in 2007-08, DeRojas went for 26 points three times ranking fifth on the school’s single-season list.
 
A two-time All-Freedom performer at Wilkes, DeRojas was named Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year during his freshman campaign after averaging 14.2 points per-contest. As a senior, DeRojas enjoyed his finest year posting a team-high 17.7 points per-game, hitting 91.4 percent of his free throws and 41.9 percent of his threes leading the Colonels to the Freedom Conference tournament for the second time in his career.
 
DeRojas starred at the former Bishop O’Reilly high school where he was part of two PIAA “A” State Championships during his career with the Queensmen.
