Ben Halford

This bio is now a part of a historical archive, the individual was on the coaching staff from 2021 to 2024 and is no longer employed in Wilkes Athletics. 

Ben Halford is in his fourth season working with the Wilkes men's ice hockey  team as the Colonels goaltender coach. He joined the staff for the 2021-22 season.

In addition to working with the Wilkes men's team, Halford is in his fifth season as the goaltending coach for the Penn State University women's team (NCAA D1).

Prior to joining the coaching ranks full time, Halford spent time in five different NHL organizations over the course of his three year pro career, which produced countless experiences that he draws from as he works to develop the next generation of goaltenders. Prior to his professional career, Ben graduated from Princeton University, concluding a four year career that included an ECAC title and NCAA Tournament Berth. Prior to Princeton, Halford attended Albany Academy (NEPSAC), before moving on to the EJHL (now the NCDC) where he led the league in save percentage and set numerous franchise records.

Halford is the owner and founder of Accelerate Goaltending which offers camps, clinics, private lessons, and in-person consulting in Pennsylvania (Several Locations), Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Omaha, NE, Raleigh, NC, Dallas, TX, & Washington DC.
