Dr. Rafael García is originally from Spain and there, at the University of Valladolid (Spain), he earned his licenciaturas in two disciplines: Spanish Philology (linguistics and literature) and Classic Philology in Latin. He came to the United States in 2005 after receiving a full scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature at the University of Cincinnati, more specifically in Golden Age literature (XVI and XVII centuries). After his doctoral studies, he worked for one year at Martin University in Indianapolis. He joined Wilkes-University in 2011 and he lives in Wilkes Barre with his wife Laura from Colombia, where they travel frequently (and Spain too). He enjoys watching and playing sports, especially soccer, and he is also a faculty mentor for the Wilkes men's soccer team.
