Butka is a native of Scranton, Pa. and West Scranton High School... He went 29-10 in 2021-22 for the Colonels, placing first at the Blue Jay Classic. He also placed second at the Ned McGinley Invitational, Wildcat Invitational, and Wilkes Invitational while coming home fourth in the MAC Championships and NCAA Southeast Regional at 197-pounds... Earned the 197-pound title at the 2023 MAC Championships to earn All-MAC First Team honors as a sophomore. Finished the 2022-23 season with a 27-7 overall record, adding a championship at the Blue Jay Classic, a second place finish at the Ned McGinley Invitational, and fourth at the NCAA Southeast Regional. He was named the Wilkes Athletics Male Athlete of the Year for 2022-23... Became the program's ninth All-American since 2007 and first since 2015 by placing fourth at the 2024 NCAA Championships. Named the Wilkes University 2023-2024 Male Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. Went 39-4 overall as a junior in 2023-24 including championships at the NCAA Southeast Regional, Ned McGinley Invitational, Doug Parker Invitational, Blue Jay Classic, and John Summa Invitational while placing third at the Wilkes Open.
