Matthew Vargo enters his first year as a Wilkes Sports Information Assistant for the 2025-26 year. He is responsible for assisting in publicity for all 24 varsity sports at Wilkes and the maintenance of the school's athletic website as well as live video and audio of Wilkes athletic events. He also helps manage all social media platforms of Colonel athletics.
Vargo, a Susquehanna University graduate, worked as an Athletic Communications Student Manager for the River Hawks as an undergraduate, and helped manage the athletic website, record live statistics for games, and much more. Vargo was also an Assistant Sports Director at 88.9 WQSU The Pulse and was the play-by-play voice for Susquehanna Athletics. Â
Vargo earned his Bachelors Degree in Communications with a focus in Sports Media as well as obtaining a minor in film studies. He was named to the Dean's list every semester as well as University Scholar three times and was a member of the Association for Women in Sports Media.
