He is responsible for handling publicity for all 24 varsity sports at Wilkes and handles the maintenance of the school's athletic website as well as live video and audio of Wilkes athletic events. He also helps manage all social media platforms of Colonel athletics. Scalzo manages a staff of one full-time assistant and two interns. On July 27, 2023 Scalzo was named the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations as he handles the athletic and officiating scheduling as well as ticketing operations for the department. He also serves on the athletics compliance team. Scalzo came to Wilkes after serving one year as the Assistant Director of Sports Information at his alma mater, King's College. While at King’s, Scalzo also worked as a student-aide in the college’s sports information office for three years before serving a 10-month internship during his senior year. A three-time MAC All-Academic selection in basketball, Scalzo graduated from King’s in 2008 with a degree in Mass Communications and English Writing. He was then hired as the full-time director of sports information at Randolph College in Virginia, a member of the highly-respected Old Dominion Athletic Conference, where he served for two years. While at Randolph, he was responsible for all sports information functions and utilized StatCrew Sports Software live during games. Additionally, Scalzo initiated Randolph’s first usage of LiveStats and Live Video in men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. During his time as a student at King’s, Scalzo helped guide the Monarch men’s basketball squad to the most successful four-year tenure in program history with four straight berths in the Freedom Conference playoffs. A two-time all-conference selection, Scalzo was a four-year starter for a program that won three Freedom Conference championships with three NCAA Division III national tournament berths in 2005, 2007, and 2008, including an "Elite 8" run in 2005. He owns the school record in games played with 113 straight starts during his four-year career and currently ranks as the fourteenth all-time leading scorer in King’s men’s basketball history with 1,292 points. A native of nearby Shickshinny, Scalzo is a 2004 graduate of Northwest Area High School where he was a three-time Wyoming Valley Conference all-star and two-time Pennsylvania All-State selection in basketball scoring over 1,500 points in his career. Scalzo completed his Master's Degree in Instructional Media at Wilkes in 2015. He is also a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Scalzo resides in Shickshinny with his wife Kristen, daughters Gabriella and Elizabeth and son Santo.
