Butka won the 197-pount Southeast Regional Championship this weekend, becoming the Colonels' first regional champion since 2019 and guarantee himself a spot in the NCAA Championships. On Friday, Butka won his first round match against Messiah's Sawyer Dereszynski by an 8-5 decision, then bested Penn State Behrend's Matthew Caldwell in the Round of 16 by pinfall in 29 seconds. In his last match of the day, he recorded another pinfall victory over Averett's Jamar Christian in 37 seconds.
On Saturday, Butka clinched his first career national qualification by defeating John Santowski of Washington & Lee University by a narrow 4-2 margin, and won the championship with a 10-7 decision over Roanoke's Lorenzo Pellot.
