LADY COLONELS DROP FOUR MATCHES OVER WEEKEND

Wilkes moves to 8-15 overall on the season

CORTLAND, N.Y.- The Wilkes University volleyball team participated in the Cortland Tournament over the weekend and dropped four matches. With the losses to CCNY, Geneseo, Hunter and Fredonia, the Lady Colonels see their overall record slide to 8-15.
 
On Friday, Wilkes lost to CCNY 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-22) and Geneseo 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-21). Over the course of the two matches, Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman) led the team with 24 kills, while Allison Kelleher (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) had a team-high 30 digs. LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) contributed 54 assists on the day. Against Geneseo, Kaitlyn McGurk (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) had a team-high four service aces. With the win, CCNY's overall record moves to 10-7, while Geneseo's record rises to 6-7.
 
On Saturday, the Lady Colonels were defeated by Hunter (25-14, 25-18, 26-24) and Fredonia (25-22, 25-12, 25-20), both by the score of 3-0. Harrison led the team with 16 kills and four service aces over the two matches, while Searfoss had a team-high 36 assists and 11 digs. With the win, Hunter's overall record moves to 15-3, while Fredonia's mark rises to 18-6.
 
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when they host No. 13 Eastern University in a Freedom match at 7:00 p.m.
