Box Score

Scranton's Abby Barrett had 15 kills to go along with 12 digs to lead the Royals to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-14) win over Wilkes University.

Barrett picked up the only double-double of the match, while three other Scranton players tallied at least 10-or-more digs. For the Lady Colonels, Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman) had 12 of the team's 27 kills, with just three errors, while libero Allison Kelleher (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) led the team with 12 digs. Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) and Meaghan Williams (Hamlin, Pa./Western Wayne) had four kills each for Wilkes.

In the first game, both teams exchanged points until the Royals broke open a 9-9 tie with an 8-1 run fueled by three kills from Barrett. The Lady Colonels would respond with a 7-3 run of its own to pull within three (20-17), but would come no closer as Scranton committed just one error the rest of the way en route to a game-one win.

Like game one, both teams exchanged points in the second frame with Harrison tying the match at 10 with a kill down the line with an assist from Williams. A Wilkes service error gave the Royals an 11-10 advantage they would not relinquish.

In the third and final game, the Lady Colonels jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a kill by Katherine Harrington (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette Central) followed by a service ace by Kaitlyn McGurk (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley). The lead was short-lived as the Royals answered with a 7-0 run capped off with a service ace by setter Jenn McKeighan, giving Scranton a 7-2 lead.

Wilkes quickly cut into the lead and eventually took a 9-8 lead after a Scranton attack error. Both teams exchanged points until the Royals, leading 15-14, erupted with 10-straight points to close out the match.

Scranton improved to 21-7 overall, while the Lady Colonels fell to 9-18 on the season. Wilkes will be back in action Thursday when it travels to Madison, N.J. to take on FDU-Florham at 3 p.m. followed by a match against Rutgers-Newark.
