The Wilkes University field hockey team saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end, dropping a 3-1 decision to No. 13 Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon at Artillery Park.
With the loss, the Lady Colonels are now 10-1, while the Blue Jays see their record improve to 10-2 on the year.
Elizabethtown would take command of the contest early, scoring all three of their goals in the first six minutes of the game. Angstadt would then add the team's last goal off an assist by Julie Foster at the 29:29 mark.
Wilkes would step up their pressure in the second half, but would only find the back of the cage once.
Amanda Peters (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) took a pass from
Gina Elmy (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R.) and beat the Blue Jay keeper to close the margin to 3-1. However, the Lady Colonels would not score again.
The Blue Jays held a slight 12-11 advantage in shots for the game while Wilkes had an 11-7 edge in penalty corners. Liz Hannegan made five saves in goal for Elizabethtown, while
