Box Score

Wilkes University recorded its third-straight shutout and fourth of the season with a 2-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy at Artillery Park to improve to 6-0.

Devon McKay (Secane, Pa./Christian Academy) scored an unassisted goal, her second of the year,  in the 16th minute which proved to be enough as the Wilkes defense allowed just four total shots and three shots on goal. McKay received a breakaway pass then out-maneuvered GMC goalkeeper Ashley McGinty for the score.

Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Pa./Dallas), who has played 210 consecutive minutes in goal, has only allowed four goals in regulation, three of which came in the first game of the season.

Alyssa Koncelik (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) scored her team-high sixth goal of the season at the 56 minute mark to make it 2-0 on a pass from Amanda Peters (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua)

“Our defense played really well today,” head coach Sara Myers said. “We are really coming together as a team. It seems we have different people stepping up at different times which is always a good thing to see.”

The Lady Colonels will remain at home when they host Keystone at 1 p.m. Saturday. It marks the first time Wilkes has played back-to-back home games this season.
